Sports and Coaching Psychology

Clear Horizons offers performance psychology training to athletes, teams and coaches.

As a former competitive swimmer and experienced provisional psychologist, Dr. Edel Langan supports a range of athletes and teams to maximise their performance in competitive sports such as swimming, boxing, sailing, football, hockey and professional golf.

For her PhD, Edel designed and delivered an evidence based coach education program, the results of which have been recently published in The Sports Psychologist. The program teaches practical strategies to engage and motivate athletes and promote a more positive sporting experience. She is currently collaborating with research affiliates at the Australian Sports Commission, Australian Drug Foundation’s Good Sports Program and the Black Dog Institute to design and deliver an innovative coach training program which aims to promote the social and emotional development of adolescent athletes in NSW. Edel also lecturers in Sports and Exercise Psychology at the University of Western Sydney.
